California Hillside Landscape Oil Painting - Those Fields, Those Hills

More about this painting at this blog link

An old pepper tree, a typical California sight, leans over a dusty summer hillside in California. The spring grasses have turned dusty brown, but wildflowers are still flourishing.

California impressionist painting - Landscape Oil Painting - Gaviota Springtime - California Art Club Gold Medal Show 100th Anniversary 2011

Gaviota Springtime
11 x 14 oil on linen plein air panel
SOLD in the 100th Anniversary of the California Art Club
Gold Medal Show, 2011, Pasadena Museum of California Art

This painting was exhibited and sold at the Pasadena Museum of California Art in Pasadena, California. It was also featured in an editorial article in the April 2011 issue of American Art Collector magazine.

It represents a graceful eucalyptus tree, arching over a springtime meadow near the coastline town of Gaviota, north of Santa Barbara. This central coast California painting is in the spirit of the early California impressionist painters such as Granville Redmond and others, who captured the natural beauty of the state and were the founders of the California Art Club 100 years ago.
