Oak Tree Forest California impressionist landscape plein air painting

Trail to Springtime, 9 x 12 inches, plein air California landscape oil painting on linen panel

"Trail to Springtime"
9 x 12 inches
Oil on linen plein air painting

This California impressionist plein air landscape was painted at the Tejon Ranch, on a quiet trail in the middle of an oak forest. The fresh spring greens and yellows were incredible, mixing with wildflowers and other colorful plants.

Quiet Day Carmel Bay oil painting, California seascape

SOLD
Quiet Day, Carmel Bay
11 x 14 seascape oil painting

This is a painting of Carmel Bay, on the Monterey Peninsula, on a quiet day. I love to paint in this area - the sea shows so many different moods and the colors are constantly changing. The day I was there, the sea was like glass. Beautiful, colorful glass.

California Poppy Time - Antelope Valley Oil Painting by Karen Winters

"Poppy Time, Lancaster, California"

Original California poppy landscape oil painting
11 x 14 inches, oil on plein air panel

Very soon, the poppy fields of Lancaster, California will be in full bloom. The Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve is a wonder to behold, as long as it doesn't get too cold or breezy (then, the poppies close up, protectively.)
