Yosemite Falls Summer oil painting - Sierra Nevada Art

Yosemite Falls, Summer
Original 24 x 18 inch oil painting
on canvas

Yosemite is one of my favorite painting destinations. After painting numerous versions of the falls in a horizontal format (seeing the scope of the valley and meadow in the foreground,) I decided it was time to do a vertical painting featuring the upper falls.

Yosemite Creek feeds the falls from the top, and after a fall of almost 2500 feet, the flow joins the Merced River.

Not this year, but perhaps next year, I hope to visit Yosemite in autumn to capture some of the dazzling color of the turning leaves.

This painting is available for sale now. If you are in the Southern California area, you are welcome to see it in person, please write.

Eaton Canyon Stream - California impressionist landscape stream oil painting - plein air

SOLD
"Eaton Canyon Stream" 9 x 12 inch oil painting
Eaton Canyon Nature Preserve, Altadena, California
(Near Pasadena)

Eaton Canyon, near Pasadena, California is a favorite plein air location for me. This painting shows the seasonal stream that runs through it in a "good" rain year. California live oaks grow along the banks, along with willows, sycamores and many other riparian California natives. Interested in this painting? Click this link to write me. karen@karenwinters.com
